“There cannot be a stressful crisis next week. My schedule is already full.” Henry Kissinger

Do you often find yourself overwhelmed by stress? You’re not alone. We all experience stress and deal with it in different ways. In the short-term stress can actually act as a motivator, but in the long-term it is bound to sap your energy – decreasing your ability to deal with it.

It has been said that the greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another. Here at Mind Channel, we believe this to be true as there are numerous ways to decrease your stress levels and turn chaos into calm.

One of the most effective ways to turn down the stress dial is by keeping active. This doesn’t necessarily mean a workout at the gym, but by all means, sweat it out if that works for you. It could just be standing up from your desk and giving your body a shake or taking a walk in your lunch break.

Rest and nutrition are two of your best friends when it comes to stress management. Getting enough shut-eye ensures that you are less irritable and in a calmer state of mind to make better decisions. A well-balanced diet provides you with the nutrients you need to create ‘happy hormones’ – when we feel positive, we feel more capable of dealing with stressful situations.

The one thing we so often forget when we’re feeling stressed is that others are feeling stressed too. By chatting to a friend or colleague about a stressful situation, you will often find that they are able to consider your situation from a different perspective – enabling you to deal with your stress more effectively. It’s very likely that you’ll be able to do the same for them.

While the phenomenon of stress is mostly out of our control, what we are able to control is how we react to it.
